With LG televisions, the serial number is not only unique, but it also contains information about the factory where the television was made and the date of its production. The serial number of the LG TV, although it does not carry much information, nevertheless allows you to find out the exact date of manufacture of the TV, of course not exactly exact, with details up to the month, as well as in what country it was assembled. Other information about the TV, although there is in the serial number, but is not available to the average user. It is intended for service centers and quality control of TV components. For example, from the serial number you can find out the batch of components, for example, screens. And when the user contacts the service centers, the repair information can be tracked for further analysis and quality control.

LG lists the model number and serial number on every outdoor unit, which is known as the condenser. And they list the model and serial number on every indoor unit, known as the evaporator. You can find the LG model number and LG serial number on the face OR side of any LG unit (Indoor or Outdoor).

The first digit tells you the Year of Manufacture of LG Air Conditioning systems. LG serial numbers do not include the decade, so we need to critically think and use other clues to determine the decade. The example above indicates the year is either 2018 or 2008. (More on this later).

So, how do we tell if the above example is manufactured in April of 2018 or April of 2008? To determine the decade, the best way is to look at the generation of the unit, found in the last digit of the model number. There are currently four generations of LG Multi-V units and every model will either end in 2 (2nd Generation), 3 (3 rd Generation), 4 (4th Generation), or 5 (5th Generation).

The model numbers of old LG TVs consist of 10 characters and can be split into 8 groups as shown above. The first two values, that is LG (Lucky-Goldstar), reflect the branding of the manufacturer. The 2nd and 3rd numerical values tell about the screen size of the TV diagonally in inches. The 5th character is the code for the type the screen technology used in the TV.

As for the 9th character of the OLED TV model number, it has undergone some changes in 2018. Before 2018, LG used the 9th character in their OLED model number to represent the digital tuner type used in the TV. However, from 2018 onwards, the same character started telling about the sales region or manufacturing county of an LG OLED TV.

If you own an LG NanoCell or QNED TV you can easily decode its model number to get some key info about your TV using the following decoder. LG adopted this format of model numbers from 2019 onwards for its new range of NanoCell and QNED TVs.

You can also find the serial number using an on-screen menu. This feature can be helpful if the TV is wall-mounted or the back is otherwise hard to access. How to find the serial number depends on the model of the television. On newer TVs:

How do I find the serial number on the LG 5K Ultrafine display. I have searched all over the monitor and no serial number, yet when I look at the box it was shipped in there is a number associated with the display. The serial number is not show in the About this Mac System report either.

I have the LG 5K Ultrafine display. On my display the serial number label is located on the back of the display underneath where the stands connects to the display. You need to remove the stand to locate it.

I know, Kappy that is what is weird. There is only a tag on the bottom of the monitor that is not a serial number because it is the name number for every monitor. It is like they forgot to put a serial number on the LG 5ks.

Whereas Martin guitars have been using a single, consistent numbering system since the 19th century, Gibson has used several different serial number formats since its inception in 1902, meaning that some formats and numbers overlap across decades. This makes it especially important to first identify the general era during which your instrument was made before pinning down the exact date of manufacture with a serial number.

Gibson has historically used two different alpha-numerical formats to catalog its instruments: serial numbers and FONs (Factory Order Numbers). Instruments will generally have one or both of these numbers stamped or written either inside the body (generally the case on earlier models) or on the back of the headstock.

Some earlier lower-end models had no serial number at all, making the FON the sole numerical identifier in those cases. A FON usually consisted of a 3-, 4-, or 5-digit batch number followed by one or two other numbers in most cases. 2ff7e9595c
